Cette topologie est aussi appelée topologie en étoile. Les noeuds sont reliés au noeud principal. Tant qu'un mapping explicite ne sera pas effectué sur RA2 et RA3 (qui ne disposent pas de circuit virtuel propre), RA2 ne pourra pas joindre RA3 (et inversement) à partir des interfaces sérielles. Par contre, si le routage est bien configuré, les LANs pourront se joindre. En laboratoire, on peut en faire la démonstration par un "ping extended".
